One little word that can get you sued!

It’s the ugliest side of our business.
When the law comes down on an agent.

Fines them $1000’s.
Publicly embarrasses them.
Takes away their license to earn a living.

Sometimes the agent deserves the book being thrown
at them, other times, just bad decision making or lack
there of.

There a few words in our industry that will get you in
trouble more than others. Here’s 10 words that you
should never say or write into a listing, use to explain
a neighborhood, or describe the type of people who
live in a particular area.

These 10 may seem “duh” but you never know!

1) Drinkers
2) Oriental
3) Retarded
4) Married
5) No Children
6) Blacks
7) Bachelor
8) Alcoholics
9) Crippled
10) Mosque

I think you get the point, but using these will cause
“career collateral damage”, violate HUD, and get your
broker very angry at you too!

Sincerely,
Justin Zimmerman
Marketing Strategist

This video carries with it a punch… You’ll want to watch it till the end,
there’s a surprising and humorous ending.

At 1st,

You’ll be astonished by how blatant and racist another person came be
to others. Clearly an example of how you’ll NEVER run your business,

But then…

You’ll get a taste for how one silly error in judgment and language can
bring you some very unwanted press, some letters from your state’s
real estate licensing board, and possibly even a Federal investigation
by HUD.

In the end after watching this I promise you both hard laugh and that
you’ll pay more attention to dotting your I’s and crossing your T’s.

Also I’d like to thank my best friend Chris Brisson (@chrisbrisson) for
shooting this video over to me.

PS: A quick shout out, I just got back from
a RE conference in North Carolina and learned
1st hand how important “data has become” in
getting *clients* to insist on price reductions.

If you’re looking to create more sellable listings
I could save you the expense of going to a live
event and recommend you check out Dirk Zeller’s
market dominance in a box.
