I’m trying to pin down a date to do a live call and finally answer this
BIG question once and for all…

Which is the best phone for Realtors?

The Apple iPhone or BlackBerry Storm.

I’m creating a short list of “experts” to interview for a live call and
you’re input is greatly welcomed.

Do you know any “diehard” BlackBerry or iPhone Realtors who
would do a good job debating why their device works best for us?

You can stand up and nominate a Realtor by posting in the “leave a
comment”
their:

1) 1st and last name
2) email/website/telephone
3) iPhone or Blackberry Storm

Once I “vett” two top agents to represent each device, I’ll get a call
date/time setup and I promise to let you know when it’s taking place.

Just make sure you’re on the email list, if you’re not, then just look to
the top find the “opt in” form with your name and email.

This is all pretty cool uhh.

Warmly,
Justin

PS: Yesterday one of my business coaches told me a story about the
ancient philosopher Maimonides (1135-1204) who preached about
material excess and indulgences.

“If one is given everything, then one values nothing”

This hit home for me.

So in the spirit of “less being more”, full access to the my premium
webinar library
is going away sometime in the near future for any
new members who join after the deadline.

So if you’re the type who enjoys indulging in new things, now
might be best and last time to jump on the deal where $1 buys you
an unlimited 14 day pass to over 37+ NAR level speakers on topics
from social media to traditional RE.

I thought I’d share my “ephinany” with you, give you a heads up on
what’s next, and let you decide what’s right for you.

Here’s the direct link to check it out.

In our area, only the phones with infrared can open the MLS lockboxes. Neither the iPhone or Blackberry have infrared, so they are not options unless we want to pay for, and carry, an extra device!

  2. Heather Joubran Says:

I have many reasons why I should be the spokesperson for the iphone one of which I waited 9 hrs in line in June when they first came out. But have many more substantial reason why. I also have a new site launching this month Heathertherealtor.com that utilizes all of social media and the iphone the proper way. So I nominate myself :)

  3. Jessica Says:

I nominate Marty Soller Coldwell Banker King Thompson Dublin Ohio for his use of the iPhone with his real estate business. He definitely knows how to intergrate all his systems available on his phone.

  4. Lynn Warren Says:

The question assumes that AT&T or Verizon are good choices for phone service. In my community, Sprint or Alltel are the only choices for decent coverage. I use a Palm Treo 755. I have my calendar, Top Producer, the internet and my MLS eKey which uses infared. For me and many others who want this level of service that would be the only choice.

  5. Marty Says:

I prefer the iPhone for two reasons:
    1. Ease of use - it is the most intuitive phone I have seen and requires little setup. In fact, it was easier to setup our corporate email system with it than it was with approved phones.
    2. Applications - the iPhone has hundreds available; something a Blackberry can’t match. Besides the real estate oriented ones loaded with the phone such as contacts, Visual Voice Mail, Camera and Google Maps (and GPS), there are several add-on applications, including:
    1. Home Buying Power - to calculate what a mortgage payment would be.
    2. A direct link to Tempo, our MLS system
    3. Facebook - to stay in touch
    4. Around Me - to find gas stations and restaurants near your location.
    5. There is even a handy Carpenter’s toolbox with a level so you can see if the floors are level.

  6. Craig Says:

There’s another option that I think you’re ignoring…it’s using MS Exchange server for your group. View or edit your calender, contacts and emails, via phone, web or your computer. Further, with passwords, your team members / assistants can set appointments or update items for you.

I use a Palm, but there are many other devices that can utilize this. This really is a sweet alternative and should be part of the conversation. Happy to discuss if there’s interest.

  7. Sarah Says:

I nominate Marty Soller from Coldwell Banker King Thompson in Columbus, Ohio, although I see he’s already one of your candidates. I assume you have his contact information. Marty is not only a technology whiz, but a top agent who is able to share his expertise with anyone who needs help. He is a frequent presenter on our online training system and would be a great Realtor to represent the AT&T iPhone.

I am in the market for a new phone and was considering a blackberry or ??
    Any suggestions would be helpful.

    blackberry rocks
    i phone does not
not for business and real estate anyway

  10. Susan Says:

I love my Blackberry, however, I would get an iPhone in a minute if AT&T had high quality voice. They obviously haven’t figured that out across various parts of the country. The phone is outstanding…too bad Apple made an exclusive with AT&T. Hopefully, that ends soon. One other problem is our MLS doesn’t work with anything Mac related so I don’t know if that applies to the iPhone or not. Mozilla Firefox doesn’t work with our Denver MLS either.

  11. Carl H. Martens Says:

I really like your hand gestures towards the title and post content…nice little touch.

I’m a huge iPhone fan, but if you’re using all its features you have to be sure to have a charger with you at all times. Too bad it can’t open a lock box…otherwise I don’t see how the Blackberry can compare.

  12. Robert Says:

palm pre will blow both of them out of the water!

  13. Dede Carney Says:

I am very interested to hear a real discussion by REALTORS on the pros and cons of the iPhone vs. Blackberry and would also vote on inclusion of the TREO’s new touch phone. Dick Betts (www.DickBetts.com) is THE premiere REALTOR TREO expert and I would highly recommend him for this comparison. There are several iPhone experts in Allen Hainge’s CyberStar group (www.afhseminars.com), as well as Blackberry users. I would suggest calling Allen Hainge for recommendations of the best REALTORS to include in this discussion. I look forward to having this comparison pros & cons SOON as my contract is expired and I’m ready for a new touch phone. I am also in a Supra LB MLS and hate to give up the infrared.
    Thanks for the timely topic!

I am in the market for a new phone. I have read all of the comments on blackberry vs Iphone but still confused. I am a reltor in orange county california. Any one in my area have good advise for me?.

  15. Jimmy Chickey Says:

I am still up in the air, but I do have a couple of thoughts for the Las Vegas market.

    1. I use a Palm 700p as it is has the build in infared so that I can open lockboxes. It sucks for pretty much all else.
    2. I love the iphone, but AT&T is spotty.
    3. There is the key fob for Blackberry and it also has world class e-mail, so I am leaning in this direction - even though the web browser is third rate compared to the iphone.
